AlgaeCytes Receives Permit & Site Approval for First Commercial Scale Plant

July 23, 2021

AlgaeCytes Limited and AlgaeCytes GmbH, its wholly owned subsidiary, today announced that on July 21, 2021 the City Council of Dessau-Rosslau, in the State of Saxony-Anhalt in Germany unanimously agreed to sell property in the industrial and commercial area Flugplatz Dessau to AlgaeCytes Germany GmbH. The 100,000 square meter property will be the site for AlgaeCytes’ first commercial scale plant for the production of consistent high quality, natural, sustainably-sourced and vegetarian premium products from microalgae.

AlgaeCytes Germany GmbH Managing Director, Andrew J. Cosentino, said: “We want to thank Lord Mayor Dr. Reck and the City of Dessau-Rosslau for their continued support for AlgaeCytes. This milestone is an important step in our growing relationship which will be mutually beneficial to AlgaeCytes and its stakeholders and to the citizens of Dessau-Rosslau and the State of Saxony-Anhalt.”

AlgaeCytes’ proprietary freshwater microalgae strains are grown using its patented technology and know-how to supply ingredients to the nutraceutical, personal care and functional food sectors as well as producing agricultural crop bio-stimulants. AlgaeCytes has operated a pilot algae facility in Kent, England since November 2017 for the production and testing of product samples, optimization of production and specification of its product lines and the planned large scale production facility. The new plant will incorporate multiple photobioreactors in a closed loop manufacturing system to produce products. That system prevents exposure to severe weather conditions and harmful environmental contamination.

AlgaeCytes Limited is a leading portfolio company in the Deepbridge Technology Growth EIS fund managed by Deepbridge Capital LLP.
