Our primary product is vegetarian, high purity (zero contaminants), Non-GMO, sustainable and traceable high value Omega 3 Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) oil from our proprietary freshwater algae strains grown using our patented technology and know-how.
We are focused on B-2-B ingredient sales for personal care, nutra-therapeutic and health care products. We have other valuable co-products, including 100% pure beta-carotene from our algae.
AlgaeCytes uses its patented technology primarily to create, from sustainable proprietary algae sources, and sell high value vegetarian, premium ingredients/products to the healthcare, personal care and pharmaceutical product markets.
AlgaeCytes’ proprietary freshwater microalgae strains are grown using our patented technology and know-how in order to supply a range of markets including the nutraceutical, personal care and functional food sectors.
AlgaeCytes has its first demonstrator and pilot plant in Kent, United Kingdom and will have its first fully commercial plant in Dessau Germany with construction commencing in Q4 2022 and operations by Q3 2023.
AVEPA TM is our premium range of all-natural algal EPA oil. It is a vegan alternative, premium quality EPA, fully traceable, non GMO, contaminant free algal EPA oil. It is in high demand for personal care formulations, nutritional therapeutics, cosmeceuticals and pharmaceuticals.
Beta-carotene is a red/orange pigment which the human body converts into vitamin A (retinol). Beta-carotene is an anti-oxidant. There may be long-term benefits in slowing cognitive decline and keeping lungs healthy, too. AlgaeCytes’ beta-carotene product is a natural product which has significant advantages regarding bio-availability compared to synthetic beta-carotene.
This serves a global market of €1,5bn which currently is dominated by synthetic versions. Natural formulations are favoured over synthetic formulations by consumer-facing brands, which gives AlgaeCytes a significant competitive edge.
Once the Omega 3 and beta-carotene have been extracted, the remaining biomass can be used as a rich source of micro and macronutrients to stimulate crop growth. The spent biomass is high in N, P and K as well as components – such as hydrolised peptides – which are known to increase the efficiency of plant growth, as well as enhancing yields and improving soil aeration and aggregation.
The application of AlgaeCytes’ biostimulant alone to high value crops have shown a total yield increase of between 7% and 9% compared to control.
